The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi 

Kristin School is a co-educational, non-denominational, independent school on Auckland’s North Shore. It provides education for over 1800 students from Early Learning to Year 13, with dual pathways through NCEA and the International Baccalaureate programme.

We are increasing our Counselling team, so we are seeking an experienced Counsellor/ Psychologist to join our Wellness Centre team in a fixed-term position until December 2025. You would be responsible for counselling students from Junior to Senior School, including building relationships with the students to help promote emotional and mental wellbeing, self-confidence, and resilience. You will also be responsible for assisting with traumatic incidents or events which may require work after hours. Working with four other counsellors you will be part of high performing team that works alongside nurses and attendance.

The role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only, with school holidays off. The successful candidate will be required to attend Camp Week in February 2025.

Important Skills | Nga Pūkenga Motuhake 

Our ideal applicant will be a Registered Psychologist or Registered Social Worker, or member or applicant member of NZAC, with 2-3 years experience working with young children and adolescents. You will also have the following attributes:

  • exceptional organisational skills
  • the ability to build relationships quickly
  • highly collaborative for working in a team
  • professionalism judgement and confidentiality
  • sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
