Early Learning Centre Assistant

The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi 

Little Doves Early Learning Centre is nestled in the grounds of Kristin School, offering an environment for rich exploration, play and learning for children 6 months to four years. Set in stunning landscaped gardens, in an architecturally designed building, the centre is licenced for 75 children and is committed to delivering exceptional early learning and care for young children.

We are looking for a Centre Assistant to job share: to work half a day in the kitchen preparing and serving meals, and half a day in the classrooms supporting teachers with the children.  Lunches are prepared off-site by a boutique catering company and delivered fresh daily, so all that is required is to heat up and serve morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, to prepare fresh fruit and vegetables, and to clear up and do the dishes for the relevant part of the day. The other half of the day is in the classroom, supporting teachers with the care and learning of children and being an active member of the teaching team. The role is Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.30pm and the centre is open all year with 4 weeks off during the Christmas close-down.

This role requires someone who:

• Has a passion for working with young children
• Is familiar with working in a kitchen and preparing food within set timeframes
• Has the stamina to work in a busy role where you are on your feet all day
• Has the ability to work well in a team environment
• Has strong organisational skills
• Has the knowledge or willingness to learn the health and safety requirements of a kitchen
